Step 3 of 5 · Do it yourself
Disciple-Maker Cohort
Learn and practise disciple-making alongside a small group of leaders.
A small cohort of leaders from different churches, meeting twice a month on video with Byron or a trained CoMission facilitator. Between calls you work through a set path in the Learning Library and put it into practice — opening the Bible with real people — then bring back what happened. You do the work in your own church; the cohort keeps you moving and helps you through what gets stuck.
Who it is for
- Leaders ready to lead the change themselves
- Churches that want a few people trained before going church-wide
- Anyone who learns best alongside others
What you get
- Live group coaching twice a month (60 minutes, on video)
- A cohort of up to 12 leaders
- A set path through the Learning Library and DBS drills
- A WhatsApp group for your cohort between calls
- Cohorts in English and in Spanish
- Join any month — no end date
- Your church buys one seat or several, with no volume discount, and enrolls its leaders through its point leader
The path
Work through these classes in order, at your own pace, and bring what happens to the calls:
- Step 1 of 8How to Do a Discovery Bible StudyLearn the whole Discovery Bible Study cycle one step at a time — then try it today. About 15 minutes, and anyone can lead.
- Step 2 of 8Facilitate Without TeachingThe best facilitators are nearly invisible. Here is how to become one.
- Step 3 of 8Study the Bible, and Study It With AnyoneA nine-module course that takes you from feeding yourself in the Word, to studying it with anyone, to helping a group open it together — discovery-first, reproducible, and warm.
- Step 4 of 8Persons of PeaceGod prepared someone before you got there. Learn to recognize them.
- Step 5 of 8Reach Anyone with an Open BibleBy the end you will have a specific person, a specific day, and the exact words to say.
- Step 6 of 8Coming Alongside DBS GroupsGroups are multiplying near your church. The question is not whether to welcome them — it is when, and in what posture.
- Step 7 of 8Groups That Start GroupsGetting to the third generation — and knowing why most people stop at the first.
- Step 8 of 8From Facilitator to CoachSuccess is not groups led. It is leaders released.
Alongside them, keep sharp with the DBS drills.
Before we start
Your church signs a short commitment first. If your church needs sponsorship, a sponsor can cover up to the full cost — see how sponsorship works.
- Your minister and elders agree in writing to the changes the work requires.
- One named point leader, and a core group of at least a handful of committed members.
- A baseline measure at the start, and the same measure every quarter.
- Open reporting to CoMission — and to your sponsor, if you have one.
