Digest

Answer from what the passage actually says — stay in the text.

  1. What does this passage show me about God?

    • The psalmist's thinking changes when he goes into the sanctuary of God. What does he see about God there that he could not see before?
    • In verses 23 to 26, what does God do for him, and what does God become to him?
  2. What does it show me about people — and about myself?

    • Where have you looked at someone else's life and felt that following God was not worth it?
    • If God gave you none of the things you are asking for today, would you still want to know him?
  3. What will I obey this week? (a concrete step, with a day)

    • The psalmist says "it is good to be near God." When will you spend time with God this week asking for nothing, only to be near him?
  4. Who will I tell?

    • Who is close to giving up because life seems unfair? When could you read this psalm with them?

Grow

Growth is God's part, not yours. Do the cycle faithfully and trust Him to give the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

Pray

God, I have envied people who seemed to have everything, and I have come to you for your gifts more than for you. You hold my right hand. Be my portion, and teach me that being near you is my good.
