Digest

Answer from what the passage actually says — stay in the text.

  1. What does this passage show me about God?

    • After the three thousand believe, what do they devote themselves to, and what does God add?
  2. What does it show me about people — and about myself?

    • Which of these marks could a brand-new group of believers practice from day one?
  3. What will I obey this week? (a concrete step, with a day)

    • What is the simplest picture you will write this week of what your new church does when it meets — what stays in, and what stays out?
  4. Who will I tell?

    • Whom will you show your simple-church picture to for honest feedback?

Grow

Growth is God's part, not yours. Do the cycle faithfully and trust Him to give the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6–7).

Pray

Lord, the first church devoted itself to the teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. Let the church we plant be that simple and that alive.
