How to Do a Discovery Bible Study · 3 of 8
Digest: What Does This Teach Me About God?
The first of the four questions — answered from the text, not from what you already believe.
Now that you’re holding the story, you digest it — and digestion starts with God. Ask: what does this passage teach me about God? Answer from what’s actually there, not from what you already believe — if an idea comes from outside the passage, the honest question is always “where do you see that here?” Write down what you find.
What does this teach me about God?
Try it: Look only at Mark 1:16–18. What do you see about who Jesus is and how He calls people? Write a line.
