Day 36: Go and make

The last thing Jesus told His followers to do.

Notice the first thing the passage says about the disciples who met Jesus on the mountain: some worshipped, and some doubted. He gave His commission to all of them anyway.

Look at what He tells them to do. Not to attend, not to invite, not to build. To make disciples, and to teach them to obey.

If the last five weeks have stirred anything in you, this is where it was always heading. The person of peace you are watching for is not a project. They could become a disciple of Jesus, and you could be the one who walks with them.

An honest prayer

Pray this as it is, or in your own words.

Jesus, all authority is Yours. I will go. Help me make disciples who obey everything You have commanded, and remind me that You are with me.

Matthew 28:16-20 (OTB)

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them. 17When they saw Him, they worshipped Him, though some still doubted. 18Then Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Three questions

  1. What does this say about God?
  2. What does this say about people?
  3. If this is true, what would I do today?

Today, I will
