A life rooted in God's word does not dry up when the weather changes.
Some disappointed Christians are dry, and they cannot quite say why. They still believe. They may still attend. But nothing seems to grow anymore.
Today’s psalm is the very first one in the Bible’s songbook, placed at the front on purpose. It describes two kinds of people, and it uses a picture you can hold in your mind all week.
Notice where the tree gets its water. Then ask yourself honestly where you have been getting yours.

An honest prayer
Pray this as it is, or in your own words.
God, I want to be planted, not blown around. Give me a hunger for Your word, day and night, and let my life bear fruit in its season.

Psalm 1 (OTB)
1Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2Rather, he finds joy in the Lord's Law, And he reflects on His Law both day and night. 3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, Which bears its fruit in its season, And its leaf remains green; And in all that he undertakes, he thrives. 4The wicked are not like this, But they resemble chaff that the wind drives away. 5Thus, the wicked will not endure in the judgment, Nor will sinners be found in the gathering of the righteous. 6For the Lord is aware of the path of the righteous, But the path of the wicked leads to ruin.
