What you need most is faith, and faith has a source.
Last week ended with a question: if a new church will not fix this, what will? The answer this class gives is faith.
Faith is what actually lets us live with a church made of imperfect people, ourselves included. With more faith, the problems other people cause do not knock us down the way they used to. We see things more clearly, the way God sees them, and things that once hurt us are seen for what they really are. With more faith we can love people the way God loves them, and we can confront what needs confronting without fear. Think of it as insulation.
So how do we get more faith? God can build faith any way He chooses. But He put it plainly in His word, and it is at the end of today’s passage. Look for it.
This week is about rediscovering the Bible for yourself. You have already been doing it every day: reading twice, retelling, asking questions, writing one “I will”. That is the whole method. Eat it (read, re-read, retell), digest it (the questions and what you will do), and let God give the growth.
What you write stays in this browser. Nothing is sent to anyone.

This is where you will look back at yesterday. For today, just notice how you are coming into this.
An honest prayer
Pray this as it is, or in your own words.
Father, I need more faith than I have. Thank You for telling me where it comes from. Open my ears to Your word today.

Romans 10:8-17 (OTB)
8But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9If you acknowledge with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and have faith in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one declares and is saved. 11For Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, richly blessing all who call on him, 13for “Everyone who invokes the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one they have not heard about? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings!” 16But not all heeded the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the message of Christ.
